What can you fight about... on Wikipedia?

via www.informationisbeautiful.net

Who ever thought that Wikipedia would be fertile grounds for a good battle? But when you think about it there's a huge potential for squables on a website that anybody can contribute to.
Take the spelling of aluminum for example... or should that be alumin(i)um? Change it if you want. That's what Wikipedia is there for.
So next time you're looking up something on Wikipedia and you see something that you KNOW isn't true... pick a fight and change it to what YOU know is true. Game on.

Is "shhh" ever acceptable?

I was at a jazz club last night. I was sitting with some new members at the club and they were being wished all the best by one of the volunteers. The band was on stage and they were cooking. Everyone was having a great time...and then it happened. Shhh!
Why does shhh happen? Is it ever appropriate to shhh another adult?
I admit that I took exception to the shhh-er last night and told her to lighten up. In fact, I told her that her experience is no more important than any other persons so don't try to enforce it.
I love jazz but I'm not going to tell someone else to shhh. Your neighbors at a performance are luck of the draw. If you got some noisy ones then so be it. You have choices. You can either move or deal with it. But don't ever shhh other people because it makes you and everyone around you uncomfortable. Nobody wants to be in purgatory like that even for a moment.

Life Sack

Check out Life Sack. It's an incredible reusable sack that comes filled with corn flour. When the flour is used up the sack then can be used to purify water using the sun.

What's more incredible is that the inventors of the Life Sack even built in straps similar to a backpack so the user can carry the water.

Ten thumbs up for an amazing idea!

Is it a painting or a real live person?

AlexaMeade1

If you're anything like me the first time I saw this photo you're probably really confused right now.The picture above is a photograph. It's not a painting mixed into a photograph... it's an actual photograph of an older gentleman painted to look as though he's a painting. It screws with your mind though doesn't it.

The idea and work is created by a Washington D.C. "dfrnt" by the name of Alexa Meade. Interestingly the name of this work is "Timmy" (totally a coincidence).

Who says that paintings can only be done on canvases and flat surfaces?
